The need to improve a building’s sustainability has become of crucial importance in the United Arab Emirates. With average temperatures of around 40° Celsius in summer, cooling accounts for most of a building’s energy consumption. Sustainable and visually attractive construction

Exterior Insulating and Finishing Systems (EIFS) create a blanket around the building. In doing so, they keep the cool air inside and help reduce the air conditioning costs. One reference object where Senergy® Exterior Insulating and Finishing Systems were used is the “East Hotel” in Dubai. The new cladding lowers the hotel’s energy consumption by up to 50%.

EIFS offer efficient insulation and at the same time a great variety of possibilities to design attractive exteriors for sustainable buildings. They are made up of several layers: an air-weather barrier, an expanded polystyrene board (EPS), base coat, mesh and top coat.

For the EIFS applicators at the “East Hotel” in Dubai, BASF set up proper training sessions. In order to ensure the correct application of the insulation system and avoid rework and related costs, BASF experts offered on-site support and assistance.
