The Esentai Park Project is among the most prestigious construction projects in Almaty. Covering an overall area of 290,000 square meters, the living and leisure complex is one of the largest construction projects in the region. Part of the complex of buildings is the so-called Marriot Tower, the city’s highest structure with 37 floors and four subterranean parking decks.

The right blend is essential
The challenge was in producing a high-strength concrete using a kind of Portland cement with season-dependent characteristics. After numerous technical discussions and tests, the BASF team arrived at the perfect solution: a combination of Microsilica and Glenium Sky. Microsilica is a powder of the Meyco® MS brand, which in conjunction with Glenium Sky improves the concrete’s pumpability, durability, and strength. The BASF team continually provides site support in order to adjust the mix to the changing conditions on site, ensuring an optimal compensation of quality fluctuations. Moreover, thanks to the admixtures the concrete retains its workability for up to three hours and can be transported by means of a stationary pump even to the uppermost floors without segregating.
