High-profile music and sports events, television shows, and a large number of Hollywood stars – the Palms Casino Resort is one of Las Vegas’s best-known and most-popular hotel-casinos.
Situated in the middle of the Nevada desert, temperatures here can rise above 45 degrees Celsius. The Exterior Insulation and Finish System under the Senergy brand helps keep the Palms cool despite high outside temperatures. This results in reduced energy consumption for cooling systems and air conditioning.

For the Palms Resort the constructors used Senergy’s panel system. The polystyrene-foam-based insulation panels are covered with a glass-fiber-reinforced base coat. The outer layers are formed by an acrylic skim coat and a final metallic coating.
The appearance of the outer surface of the Exterior Insulation Finishing System posed a particular challenge to the BASF team. The facade was to have a metallic sheen without employing the expensive traditional metal panels. In order to meet this requirement, the BASF team developed two new products: An innovative sandable skim coat provides an extra-smooth, flat surface which can then be covered with a special-purpose Senergy metallic coating. |
Cost-efficient and customer-oriented
An important additional advantage provided by Senergy systems is the prevention of thermal-bridge-related problems. Regular on-site inspections by technical service and advisory meetings with the construction team before, during, and after the construction of the Palms Casino Resort accompanied the application of the Senergy Exterior Insulation Finishing System.
