BASF presents specialist flooring concepts at the Gulfood 2009 Exhibition in Dubai
As a leading global partner to the construction industry, BASF is exhibiting at Gulfood 2009, the 14th Gulf Food, Hotel and Equipment Exhibition and Salon Culinaire, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from February 23 to 26, 2009. This event is by far the most important for the food and hospitality industry with experts from across the globe attending to discuss the changing patterns of food consumption and trade. BASF will have its own stand with the theme “Floors Fit for the Food Industry”.
The preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages must be conducted in a hygienic environment. Now more than ever the flooring surface in food preparation areas are under scrutiny. The essential requirements for floors in the food industry include ease of cleaning. Surfaces must be able to withstand aggressive cleaning and sterilizing regimes including steam cleaning. In addition, preparation and process areas must be non-slip under wet conditions. Not all floor finishes are tough and durable and can resist heavy duty traffic such as steel wheeled trolleys.
Ucrete®, a polyurethane concrete overlay system, has been used by the food industry for over 35 years. Ucrete floors are tough, resistant to a wide spectrum of aggressive chemicals, and are able to withstand temperatures between -40°C & 130°C.
The Ucrete specification is endorsed by many international companies in the food industry worldwide. “As a reliable partner to virtually all industries, BASF’s intelligent system solutions and high-value products help its customers to be more successful,” says Performance Flooring manager, Ian Smith. “BASF develops new technologies and uses them to open up additional market opportunities, and this is further endorsed by personal representation and local customer care.”
